Corporate clothing doesn't suit her I guess. Anyway this was kind of meh. I was expecting a lot more out of Poehler. If nothing else her parts should have been funny. But I agree that it probably needs a few episodes to tweak and wear out the kinks.The Indian redneck from South Carolina is definitely one of the most promising characters.

Often the humor is based on the characters' personalities and not on the situation. For instance, if one were to view The Office for the first time and see Jim pull a prank on Dwight, it might seem funny. But after a few weeks of seeing how they interact, suddenly it becomes much funnier because one knows the background. Older shows like "I Love Lucy" or "Dick Van Dyke" could be funny out of the gate because they were true "situation" comedies. Comedies these days are much more character derived. When they inevitably rerun the pilot ep in about 6 weeks it may seem funnier because we'll know "why" it was supposed to be funny. Same thing with "Better Off Ted." I didn't laugh so much the first couple of weeks, but this last week I had some great LOL moments.

Many shows these days especially the 'smarter' ones tend to be funnier after being around for at least a few weeks. Plus a show likes this hasn't put all their pieces in place. Rashida's cahracter hasn't fully intergrated with the premise ina permanent way yet. I assume she'll soon be getting a job of sorts in the Parks Dept. Oh and can I add how much hotter the guy who helped get her the committee by calling in his favour got as his character developped over the ep? Comparing to just pre-show images he's much more attracitve. The actor's charm sure amped it up. Me liked. The anti-govt boss will surely get even funnier as the show goes on. I love Amy's character's optimism. It's adorable and appropriate.

Plus, I feel it's a strong cast and needs a few episodes to find its rhythm. THE OFFICE and 30 ROCK had the humblest of beginnings. And BETTER OFF TED is starting to find its groove. This one is worth a few more looks.

The pilot just wasn't that funny. I wanted to laugh, and actually forced out a couple of haha's but eh... I'll give it a few more tries, but again, only because of Amy.

I was expecting it to be outright awful and just cringeworthily bad throughout, but there were a few decent laughs. I'll stick with it for a while. Isn't it only a 6 episode run, though, like how The Office's first season was? It's not that much of a commitment to make and I think it fits well with the other NBC Thursday comedies. I could see it coming back next season (though I haven't taken a look at the ratings for the premiere).

They already have the Office and 30 Rock. Which do well at 9/9:30 respectively. Parks at 8:30? And something else at 8. Makes sense to me.

It just felt like a bad copy of The Office. The scene where she falls into the pit was really lame. I'm hoping for better but The Office isn't what it used to be either.

The constantly zooming camera was a distraction. Even moreso than the Office, I could not understand how the pseudo-documentary scenes could have so many angles without cameras shooting each other. I'll give it a chance but Poehler's perky character is a little too perky.

I think one of my big problems was the casting - with the exception of Aziz Ansari, none of the actors really seemed to "be" their characters. Still, The Office took a while to get going, so I'm going to stick around for at least the rest of the season.

Comedic characters often need to lack self-awareness in order to be funny. Archie Bunker, Diane Chambers (Cheers), everyone on Friends, Kramer - the comedy is based on their HUGE blind spot about themselves. To me, what separates Amy's character from Michael Scott is her ambition. And watching Rashida Jones makes it worth sticking with for at least a few more eps. I'm surprised NBC does so poorly, because The Office and 30 Rock are absolutely brilliant.
